First determine the packaging route

If your container is not a standard round or square bottle, or if the sealing result needs to be proven by sample testing first, start from the rim shape, film type, changeover frequency, and testing target. Then decide whether to use custom tooling, a more universal fixture, or desktop testing first.

Desktop Standalone Sample-Testing Route

Suitable for: small-batch or sample-testing projects where the container shape is special, the film has not been finalized, and sealing effect needs to be verified first. Advantages: lower tooling cost, fast changeover, and suitable for testing multiple specifications. Limits: capacity is limited, usually several hundred cycles per hour, so it is not suitable for continuous large-batch production. Not recommended when: mass production with one fixed container specification is already confirmed. Equipment direction: small-diameter cup sealer SGP-03, desktop multi-compartment lunch box sealer, and desktop top-film tray sealer can be used for sample testing, with tooling customized according to the container rim.

Rotary Multi-Station Sealing Route

Suitable for: projects with relatively stable container specifications, medium capacity requirements of about 1000-2000 pieces per hour, and low changeover frequency. Advantages: multi-station continuous operation provides higher efficiency than a desktop machine and can integrate filling, sealing, and discharge. Limits: tooling and change parts cost more, and changeover time is longer. Not recommended when: container specifications change frequently or each specification has a very small batch size. Equipment direction: a rotary multi-station sealing machine can be fitted with tooling made for the container rim and can support multi-size changeover, but the main specifications should be confirmed first.

Preformed Box and Tray Sealing Line Route

Suitable for: preformed trays, meal boxes, and multi-compartment boxes with high capacity needs above 2000 boxes per hour, plus automatic feeding and inspection requirements. Advantages: fully automatic continuous production can connect filling, coding, and checkweighing, making it suitable for stable high-volume orders. Limits: initial investment is higher, and the tooling and conveyor line must be designed around the container, so changeover is more complex. Not recommended when: the project is still at the sampling stage or order volume is unstable. Equipment direction: a preformed tray sealer, food-grade conveyor, and in-line checkweighing system can form a connected line, but container samples and target capacity should be provided first.

01How much does sample testing cost?

Sample testing cost mainly depends on tooling production and testing time. It should be evaluated based on container complexity and film material, so sending samples first is recommended.

02Can the desktop test machine be used for small-batch production?

Yes. A desktop machine is suitable for small batches of several hundred pieces per hour. If later orders increase, it can be upgraded to a rotary or connected-line system.

03Can testing start without film samples?

It is best to provide film samples because sealing parameters depend on film material. If you do not have film yet, we can recommend common films, but the final effect still needs to be verified with the actual film.

04How long does custom tooling take?

Usually 1-2 weeks, depending on tooling complexity and the current production schedule. Urgent cases can be discussed.

05How is sealing effect checked after sealing?

It is usually checked by visual inspection, peel testing, or air-tightness testing. If in-line inspection is required, vision inspection or leak detection equipment can be added.

06Can the sample-testing machine still be used when order volume grows later?

Yes. The sample-testing machine can still be used for new product trials and small batches. For high-volume production, a dedicated rotary or connected-line system is recommended, so the two uses do not conflict.
