How to Choose a Yogurt Cup Filling, Film Sealing and Carton Packing Line? Start With Cup Type, Cup Mouth and Output

For a yogurt cup filling, film sealing, coding, and carton packing line, first check cup type, cup-mouth size, film material, filling volume, coding requirements, and available site space for line integration. You can start with standalone trial production or connect filling, film sealing, coding, and carton packing into one line. Sample photos, dimensions, and target output help us match equipment accurately.

  • Yogurt cup projects should not start from the machine name. First confirm cup type, cup-mouth size, film material, filling volume, coding position, and whether downstream carton packing is needed, then decide between standalone, semi-automatic, or continuous line integration.

Start With the Line You Actually Need

I want to pack yogurt cups and need filling, film sealing, coding, and carton packing, but I do not know whether to start with standalone machines or the full line. Can you help me judge the direction first?

Start With Cup Type and Output

Yogurt cup packaging is not just about buying one sealing machine. First confirm the cup type, cup-mouth size, film material, filling volume, coding position, and whether downstream carton packing is needed, then decide whether to use a standalone machine, semi-automatic equipment, or a continuous line.

Desktop Semi-Automatic Small Cup Sealing Route

Suitable for: small-batch trial production, frequent specification changeover, or yogurt cup projects with limited initial investment, especially smaller cup-mouth diameters, usually up to 90 mm. Advantages: low equipment cost, fast tooling change, suitable for sampling and small-order production, and simple operation. Limitations: cups, film, and finished cups are handled manually, so output depends on operator speed, usually around 300 to 800 cups per hour. Not recommended when: target output is above 1,000 cups per hour or continuous automatic production is required. Equipment direction: the SGP-03 small-diameter cup sealer can be used with manual filling or a small-dose filling machine.

Fully Automatic Small-cup Filling and Sealing Line Integration Route

Suitable for: medium-to-large batch yogurt cup production where the cup type is relatively fixed and automatic cup denesting, filling, sealing, and outfeed are required. Advantages: high automation reduces manual work, keeps output stable at about 600 to 1,200 cups per hour, and can connect with date coding and carton packing. Limitations: cup type, film material, and filling volume must be confirmed. Changeover requires tooling replacement, and the initial investment is higher. Not recommended when: there are many product specifications and each batch is small; a fully automatic line will increase changeover cost. Equipment direction: a small cup filling and sealing machine can be used, with downstream date/batch coding, case sealing, and carton labeling if required.

Rotary Multi-Station Sealing Route

Suitable for: projects with relatively uniform cup types and an output target of 1,200 to 2,000 pieces per hour, integrating filling, sealing, and outfeed. Advantages: multi-station operation gives higher efficiency, a compact footprint, and optional coding and inspection modules. Limitations: tooling and station quantity must be customized according to cup type. Changeover takes longer, so it is not suitable for frequent specification changes. Not recommended when: there are more than three product specifications and changeover is needed several times per week, because rotary changeover efficiency will drop. Equipment direction: a rotary multi-station sealing machine can be used, connected with filling at the front and coding plus conveying at the rear.

Recommended Equipment Route: Cup Type and Film Material Confirmation

First confirm cup-mouth size and film type, such as aluminum foil film, easy-peel film, or composite film. These are the basis for tooling and sealing parameters.

Recommended Equipment Route: Filling and Sealing

Select automatic cup denesting, filling, and sealing, or semi-automatic sealing according to cup type and output, then complete the main packaging process.

Recommended equipment route: coding or inkjet coding

Print production date and batch number on the cup surface or bottom to meet traceability requirements.

Recommended equipment route: carton packing and downstream handling

Pack the sealed yogurt cups into cartons, seal the cartons, and apply outer carton labels to complete shipment packaging.

Route comparison

01Desktop Semi-Automatic Small Cup Sealing Route
  • Suitable for yogurt cup projects with small-batch trial production, frequent specification changeovers, or limited initial investment, where the cup-mouth diameter is small, usually 90 mm or below.
  • Lower equipment cost, quick mold changeover, suitable for sampling and small orders, and simple operation.
  • Manual cup loading, film placement, and cup removal are required, so output is limited by manual speed, usually 300 to 800 cups per hour.
  • If the target output is above 1,000 cups per hour or continuous automatic production is required, the desktop semi-automatic route is not recommended.
  • Equipment direction: the SGP-03 small-diameter cup sealer can be used with manual filling or a small-dose filling machine.
02Fully Automatic Small-cup Filling and Sealing Line Integration Route
  • Suitable for medium-to-large batch yogurt cup production where the cup type is relatively fixed and automatic cup denesting, filling, sealing, and outfeed are required.
  • High automation reduces manual work, keeps output stable at about 600 to 1,200 cups per hour, and can be connected with date coding and carton packing.
  • Cup type, film material, and filling volume must be confirmed. Changeover requires tooling replacement, and the initial investment is higher.
  • If there are many product specifications and each batch is small, a fully automatic line is not recommended because changeover cost will be higher.
  • Equipment direction: a small cup filling and sealing machine can be used, with downstream date/batch coding, case sealing, and carton labeling if required.
03Rotary Multi-Station Sealing Route
  • Suitable for projects with relatively uniform cup types and an output target of 1,200 to 2,000 pieces per hour, integrating filling, sealing, and outfeed.
  • Multi-station operation gives higher efficiency, a compact footprint, and optional coding and inspection modules.
  • Tooling and station quantity must be customized according to cup type. Changeover takes longer, so it is not suitable for frequent specification changes.
  • If there are more than three product specifications and changeover is needed several times per week, the rotary route is not recommended because changeover efficiency will drop.
  • Equipment direction: a rotary multi-station sealing machine can be used, connected with filling at the front and coding plus conveying at the rear.

05Assuming One Machine Can Handle All Cup Types

Common questions

01Does yogurt cup sealing always require aluminum foil film?

Not necessarily. Easy-peel film and composite film can also be used, depending on sealing requirements and the consumer peel-off experience. Film samples are recommended for testing.

02What equipment is suitable for small-batch trial production?

A desktop semi-automatic small cup sealer can be used first, with manual or semi-automatic filling. It has lower investment and faster changeover.

03Does yogurt filling need anti-drip control?

Yogurt has relatively high viscosity, but stringing or dripping can still occur after filling. Anti-drip filling nozzles are recommended to avoid cup-rim contamination.

04Can sealing, coding, and carton packing be connected in one line?

Yes. A fully automatic filling and sealing machine can connect downstream with a coding machine, case sealer, and labeling line for continuous production.

05Is it difficult to change tooling for different cup types?

Tooling change usually takes about 10 to 30 minutes. If changeover is needed many times per day, a quick-change tooling structure is recommended.

06Can you quote first without samples?

A preliminary direction can be estimated from cup-mouth size and target output, but an accurate quote requires cup and film samples for sealing tests.
