How to Choose Freeze-dried Fruit Can Filling, Moisture-proof Sealing and Labeling? Start With Can Type, Film Material and Moisture-protection Requi...

For freeze-dried fruit can filling, moisture-proof sealing, and labeling, first confirm container, product, film material, cap type, capacity, and on-site line requirements. The equipment route may include filling by weight or volume, moisture-proof sealing, and labeling for product identification. Sending sample photos, dimensions, and target capacity helps us match equipment and quote accurately.

  • Freeze-dried fruit absorbs moisture easily. Packaging should first confirm can type, sealing method, moisture-proof target, whether press capping and labeling are needed, then decide the filling, sealing, and back-end line route.
  • How to choose freeze-dried fruit can filling, moisture-proof sealing and labeling?

First Break the Requirement Into Key Points

We produce freeze-dried fruit and want to use cans, with moisture-proof sealing and labeling. How should we choose the equipment?

First determine the packaging route

Freeze-dried fruit is sensitive to moisture. First confirm can type, sealing method, and moisture-proof target, then decide the filling, sealing, and labeling route.

Heat-Press Aluminum Foil Sealing + Cap Pressing Route

Suitable for wide-mouth containers such as paper cans, plastic cans, and composite cans with flat rims, where aluminum foil film is heat sealed directly on the can mouth and an outer cap is added for moisture protection. Advantage: direct aluminum foil film sealing can provide moisture protection after sample confirmation and is suitable for long-term storage. Limit: can mouth flatness and film compatibility must be confirmed by samples; otherwise the seal may not be firm. Not recommended when the mouth has threads or requires screw capping. Equipment route: a paper can or plastic pail foil sealing and capping machine can complete film placing, heat sealing, and press capping.

Induction foil sealing + screw capping route

Suitable for plastic bottles and glass bottles with threaded caps, where an aluminum foil liner is already inside the cap and is sealed to the bottle mouth by induction heating. Advantage: non-contact sealing followed by capping provides moisture resistance and leak prevention, suitable for high-speed connected production. Limit: the cap must contain an aluminum foil liner, and the bottle mouth must be flat; otherwise induction sealing may be unstable. Not recommended for paper cans or metal cans because paper does not conduct magnetically and metal interferes with the field. Equipment route: an in-line induction foil sealer or desktop air-cooled induction foil sealer can be used with a capping machine.

In-Line Bottle Heat-Press Sealing Route

Suitable for PP, PET, PE, and other plastic bottles with a flat mouth, using aluminum foil film or composite film for direct hot press sealing. Advantage: simple equipment structure, suitable for small and medium batches, with convenient changeover. Limit: sealing speed is limited by stand-alone rhythm, and continuous high-volume production may need multiple machines in parallel. Not recommended for wide-mouth cans or pails where bottle-sealer tooling may not match. Equipment route: an in-line hot press bottle sealing machine can connect with filling and labeling for plastic-bottled freeze-dried fruit.

Recommended equipment route: filling by weight or volume

Freeze-dried fruit is a solid particle product and should be filled by weight or volume. A servo piston or powder/granule filling machine can adjust volume and is suitable for can filling.

Recommended equipment route: sealing for moisture protection

Choose the sealing method according to can type and moisture-proof target: paper cans or wide-mouth cans use aluminum foil heat sealing with press capping, while plastic bottles can use induction foil sealing.

Recommended equipment route: labeling for product identification

Canned freeze-dried fruit needs labels for brand, ingredients, and date information. A round and square bottle labeling machine can adapt to several can shapes.

Recommended equipment route: coding for production date and batch number

Freeze-dried foods usually need production date and batch number marking. A coder can be connected in-line without affecting the production rhythm.

Route comparison

01Heat-Press Aluminum Foil Sealing + Cap Pressing Route
  • Suitable for wide-mouth containers such as paper cans, plastic cans, and composite cans with flat rims, where aluminum foil film is heat sealed directly on the can mouth and an outer cap is added for moisture protection.
  • Direct aluminum foil film sealing can provide moisture protection after sample confirmation and is suitable for long-term storage of freeze-dried fruit.
  • Can mouth flatness and film compatibility must be confirmed by sample testing; otherwise the seal may not be firm.
  • If the can mouth has threads or requires screw capping, heat sealing alone is not recommended, because threaded mouths usually need capping together with an aluminum foil liner.
  • A paper can or plastic pail foil sealing and capping machine can complete film placing, heat sealing, and press capping, suitable for wide-mouth cans of freeze-dried fruit.
02Induction foil sealing + screw capping route
  • Suitable for plastic bottles and glass bottles with threaded caps, where an aluminum foil liner is already inside the cap and is sealed to the bottle mouth by induction heating.
  • Non-contact sealing, followed by capping, provides moisture resistance and leak prevention and is suitable for high-speed connected production.
  • The cap must contain an aluminum foil liner, and the bottle mouth must be flat; otherwise induction sealing may be unstable.
  • If the container is a paper can or metal can, induction sealing may not be suitable because paper cans are not magnetically conductive and metal cans interfere with the magnetic field.
  • An in-line induction foil sealer or desktop air-cooled induction foil sealer can be used together with a capping machine.
03In-Line Bottle Heat-Press Sealing Route
  • Suitable for PP, PET, PE, and other plastic bottles with a flat mouth, using aluminum foil film or composite film for direct hot press sealing.
  • Simple equipment structure, suitable for small and medium batches, with convenient changeover.
  • Sealing speed is limited by stand-alone machine rhythm. Continuous high-volume production may need multiple machines in parallel.
  • If the container is a wide-mouth can or pail, the tooling of a bottle hot press sealer may not match, so dedicated equipment is needed.
  • An in-line hot press bottle sealing machine can connect with filling and labeling and is suitable for plastic-bottled freeze-dried fruit.

Sample details

01Preparation material 1

Inline requirements affect equipment sequence, cycle time matching, and downstream inspection methods.

Please provide freeze-dried fruit samples or photos, plus the actual can or a dimension drawing, including mouth diameter, height, and mouth shape. These affect the filling nozzle, sealing tooling, and labeling position.
02Preparation material 2

The lid structure determines the capping method (press, screw, or place) and whether inline integration is needed.

Please confirm can material, such as plastic, paper can, or metal can, and cap type, such as screw cap, press cap, or snap cap. This decides whether heat sealing or induction sealing is more suitable.
03Preparation material 3

Capacity target determines single machine, semi-automatic, or continuous inline configuration, and also affects the quotation range.

Please provide the target capacity in cans per hour and whether connected production is planned. This affects whether a stand-alone machine or a full line is selected.
04Preparation material 4

Film material and liner affect sealing temperature, pressure, dwell time, and feeding method.

If sealing film or aluminum foil liner samples are available, please provide them together. Film compatibility is a key factor in sealing effect.
05Preparation material 5

Photos and dimensions can first determine container positioning, mold direction, and whether sample testing is needed.

If the information is not complete, send available photos and dimensions first. We will judge the route first and then provide a confirmation checklist.

Common selection mistakes

01Only asking for the machine name without confirming can type and film
02Ignoring the moisture-proof target
03Quoting filling and sealing separately
04Assuming labelers are universal for all can types
05Asking for a final quotation with incomplete samples

Common questions

01What equipment is needed for freeze-dried fruit canning?

Usually a filling machine for dosing, a sealer using heat press or induction, a labeling machine, and a coder are needed. The final route depends on can type and capacity.

02For freeze-dried fruit moisture-proof sealing, is heat press or induction better?

For paper cans or wide-mouth cans, aluminum foil film heat sealing is recommended. For plastic bottles, induction foil sealing is recommended. Both can provide good moisture protection, but the choice depends on the container.

03Can small-batch production use only stand-alone machines?

Yes. You can start with stand-alone filling and sealing machines, then add labeling and conveying later, but interfaces should be reserved in advance.

04Can a labeling machine label metal cans?

Yes. A round and square bottle labeling machine can label metal cans, but the can body shape and label material must be confirmed.

05Can you quote first without can samples?

We can first estimate the direction, but a formal quotation needs can samples or dimension drawings; otherwise tooling and sealing parameters cannot be confirmed.

06Does a freeze-dried fruit packaging line need to be connected?

If capacity is high, a connected line is recommended to improve efficiency. For small batches, stand-alone machines can be used first and upgraded later.
